Hi visitor,
These days the smartphones use normally two types of batteries Lithium-Ion and Lithium Polymer; So the consumer is confused so much about which one is best for them to buy if you are facing the same problem come.....Stay tuned.
In This Article, I am only going to talk about Mobile Phone batteries.
In Mobile Phones, How many types of battery are used:
1.Lithium-Ion
2.Lithium Polymer
3.Nickel Metal Hydride
4.Nickel Cadmium
Normally a life of a battery is identified by the charge cycles (1 Charge Cycle = discharge-recharge-discharge), normal batteries provide you 1000 charge cycles. It may reduce its life cycles by your improper way of using, maintaining and handing battery, and provide you less battery backup as it gives you initially(10hr backup may reduce to 6hrs battery backup).
If original capacity battery reduced internally because of longtime gap called "Memory Effect"
Nickel Cadmium(NiCD): These batteries are used as initial phone batteries. It is a technology where battery suffers from memory effects. It was needed for these batteries to charge up after full discharging; otherwise, this battery can reduce the storage capacity and backup time, which is inconvenient for the peoples to wait for full discharge to recharge it again.Because, In these batteries, toxic elements and chemicals are used, these batteries are also not an environment-friendly; so manufacturers decide to stop its manufacturing. These batteries use nickel oxide hydroxide (NiOOH) as its positive (anode), and cadmium as its negative (cathode)

Lithium-Ion - You can get this battery on your phone. It is a battery which is invented as an advanced technology battery in terms of related technology batteries. It has a high capacity of storing energy capacity, low memory effect than other previous technology batteries. These batteries are used in phones generally, also in other gadget but in form of rechargeable cells. It starts used in phones to provide them long talk time battery backup, where the phones previous batteries fail if we talk about those NiCD and NiMH. In a lithium-ion battery, lithium is a gel type of material. that is used instead of nickel. The lithium-ion battery has Ions, in terms of electrodes which transports between the anode(+ve) and cathode(-ve).
NOW DON'T CONFUSED IT'S JUST A SHAPE AND SIZE CONCERN THAT'S WHY THESE LiPO BATTERIES ARE INTRODUCED
Lithium Polymer (Li-PO): The battery is cased in thick plastic polythene cover, rather than metal or hard plastic fix size. polythene cover makes its size and shapes sleeker, lighter, smaller, and safer by adjusting lithium gel to any of the shapes than other types of battery.

So battery inventor invented a technology of polymer by which they reduced the side of the battery, It can be possible to make a battery with this technology, of a ball side or maybe thin as an ATM card size. So this issue is resolved by the polymer technology.
Yes, Polymer also comes with some more feature with it as a new technology; it serves more something to its user. So the polymer battery can provide you high output at a time (handle gaming, video calling like big application for a long time) by providing long backup to your phone.
My Personal Thoughts: According to me the phone which comes with non-removable battery, In those phones maybe manufacturer generally use polymer battery because phone manufacturers may be given the battery a unique shape than just ordinary battery shape and size.
Conclusion: I think you shouldn't think about that "Which type of battery is used in your smartphone" because both, in general, are made of the same technology that is Lithium. So don't just be confused about the names Li-Po Or Li-ION.You will use any type of battery same way-recharge and discharge.Let the manufacturer decide which technology battery to use in what type of mobile phone, you just have to use the battery.

In the next article, I will share "the facts and myths about phone battery".
TECH NEWS: The University of Texas; after long research on increasing battery capacity, come out with the result that new lithium batteries going to be cheaper and double the storage capacity of charging, It became possible by using Tin-aluminium anode rather than using copper-graphite combination technology. With Tin-aluminum battery use a glass electrode instead of the liquid ions to make the flow long lasting; demonstrated in research 1200 cycles completed with low cell resistance. If the manufacturing of that battery starts at large scale you now may get this technology battery at cheap rates in the market in some of next few days which has a more capacity to store more energy back up in your pocket phone.
